Eating fruits and vegetables does really make us healthy and strong?

That is a good question and I will try to answer this question by providing you with more information regarding fruits and vegetables. There are plenty of domestic healthy vegetables available for us that are packed with many nutritional benefits and they should be eaten frequently, especially if you want to have a normal, healthy life.

Eating fruits and vegetables is a great way to have a healthy life and weight.

Note: Variety in choosing the fruits or legumes you eat it’s recommended. Every color of our fruits and vegetables contain various types of antioxidants.

Let’s talk about some vegetables to see if they are good for us or not.

Eggplant (also known as aubergine)

Let’s begin with Eggplant. It is like a purple teardrop-shaped vegetable with a creamy flesh dotted with seeds.

Eggplant is recommended because of the high fiber content. They are rich in vitamins and minerals and that makes it full of nutrition and health. Eggplants also contain powerful antioxidants and they are very efficient in destroying free radicals (oxidants).

This vegetable contains “Nasunin” which is a very powerful antioxidant that protects your cell membranes against the damage made by the free radicals. Consuming eggplants is recommended especially for diabetes cases, heart diseases or blood clots.

Note: The skin of the eggplant is low in energy and does not contain fat. Make sure u eat the skin too.

The first thing I want to say is RED is very high in antioxidants. You can use the beet as well as the leaves in your salad or you can make a juice from the whole thing. 

You can personalize your juice or a smoothie by using this amazing veggie. This legume is rich in a lot of antioxidants and vitamins, also they are rich in fiber which can help you improve your digestive health.

The beets are considered heart-healthy food because they are rich, also, in natural nitrates. Natural nitrates are also known to have a lowering effect on blood pressure.

Even though the beets can be found in a variety of different colors like white beets or golden beets, the red beets are the most popular and available.

The red beets are also known to have a positive effect in fighting off cancer, lowering cholesterol levels, blood pressure or it can help with erectile dysfunction, etc.

Free Radicals |  What are these free radicals or oxidants?

Free Radicals can be found in all shapes and sizes also chemical structures. They are very unstable and a real danger for our cells.

Cigarette Smoke, other pollutants from our environmernt, sugar, alcholol, fats in our diet,  even the air that we breathe, can cause free radicals

Antioxidants |  What is an antioxidant? 

Our foods are the best source where we can find antioxidants like Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Beta Carotene, etc. Antioxidants are used to neutralize free radicals from causing damage like heart disease or cancer.

Try to remove things that can cause oxidative damage like red meat or cholesterol-raising food (fast “crap” food). Doing this you avoid the damage on your artery that causes heart disease, for example.

Important: The supplements of antioxidants won’t help you the way fruits and vegetables will. Try to get antioxidants from fruits and veggies, not from pills.

It’s a fantastic legume with lots of nutritional benefits.

There are 3 types of asparagus: white, green and purple. The purple asparagus is rich in anthocyanins which are a powerful antioxidant and because of this, they get the purple color.

The green asparagus is higher in fiber content and it is recommended for the digestive system. The white asparagus (also known as Golden Asparagus) is considered a delicacy but it’s not rich in nutrients like the green or purple asparagus.

Note: For the people with arthritis, Alfalfa Sprouts is not recommended because of the amino acid that can aggravate inflammation.

There are many ways you can eat carrots. You can slice them and put them in a salad, you could make a juice or you can cook them by adding them in a soup or some kind of sauce. It is only up to you how you are gonna eat these.

Use your imagination. Carrots come in many colors like yellow, purple, white or orange.

The carrots are the richest source of beta carotene. Beta carotene helps fight against free radicals. The beta carotene gives the carrot the orange color.

Cooking carrots raises the nutritional value and lets your body absorb them better. Also, carrots are very high in vitamin K, vitamin C, vitamin B6, fiber and antioxidants.

Green Leafy Vegetables are full of vitamins C, A, E, and K but also a great source of potassium, phosphorus, and iron. That is the reason why you should include this in your diet.

You can make a salad by mixing the leaves with some lemon juice and some olive oil, for example. By including this in your diet, you get a lot of vitamins, fibers, antioxidants, and minerals, especially calcium and iron.

There are many ways to prepare, to cook these green veggies like salads or mixing them in a delicious vegetable juice, etc.

Benefits of Eating Tomatoes

Tomatoes are rich in minerals, vitamins, enzymes and, of course, in antioxidants like lycopene. Lycopene makes your skin a lot less sensitive to ultraviolet rays. We need these antioxidants to fight free radicals who are invading our bodies. 

They are excellent sources in vitamin A which are good for your eye health, in vitamin K which is good to strengthen your bones (bone health), in Vitamin C to resist infections, manganese which is good to control your heart rate (cardiovascular support) and a lot more nutrients to help you fight diseases.

Tomatoes are really low in calories, fat-free, no cholesterol. They are recommended for someone who is on a weight loss diet.

They are low on calories, they are not gonna spike your blood sugar, they have the capacity to increase your metabolism rate or they can increase the blood flow, etc.

The Yellow one contains lutein and zeaxanthin which are great for your eyes, for your brain chemistry or mental health, etc.

Note: The yellow and red pepper is exactly the same pepper as the green one. The green pepper turns in yellow over time and then turns in red after a more period of time. The nutritional content changes during this process of transformation from green to red.

Sweet Potatoes are very low in calories, high in fiber content, they are fat-free and cholesterol-free. They are rich also in many vitamins B, beta carotene or potassium. And, of course, it’s a great source of antioxidants.

If the flesh of the sweet potato is darker on the inside then the number of antioxidants will be higher. So, following this idea, we can say that the purple sweet potato will have a much higher number of antioxidants than the white sweet potato.

Note: Sweet potato is not related to the potato family. It’s very important to know this.

They are super easy to cook, they taste good, you don’t have to cook them or put sugar or salt on them and easy to store. It’s a fantastic source of protein and carbs.
